Joranelis is a personal shadowing studio for overseas learners. Tap Start to open the booth on this iPhone.
Getting started
After Start, Home shows Starter Booth (two cards plus View all) and your Studio Shelf. Profile holds the ledger, archive, settings, privacy, and these terms.
Starter Booth
Six built-in tapes are ready to play. They are read-only: you can practice and keep progress, but you cannot edit, delete, or archive them. View all opens the full booth list.
Create a practice tape
New Material lets you paste a script or scan a page (camera or photos). OCR runs on the device with Apple Vision. You proof every line before save. Saving a new custom tape is free. Optional translation may fill extra fields; if it is unavailable, your original lines are kept and you can type a translation yourself.
Practice takes
Open a tape, play a line with on-device speech, then tap the mic to shadow. The transcript is editable. Matching is a study hint, not a score from a teacher. If the microphone is off, use a practice note and mark the line practiced. Reminders are dates stored on the tape; they are not push notifications.
Camera, photos, microphone
If iOS denied a permission, Joranelis will not show a fake Settings jump on the first ask. You can still paste a script or pick another input. To turn a permission back on: iOS Settings → Joranelis → Camera, Photos, Microphone, and Speech Recognition. Speech Recognition is required for live takes; without it, use manual notes. Tracking is optional (Privacy & Security → Tracking). Ask App Not to Track does not block the booth.
Clock Out and Shred the Archive
Leave the Booth signs you out of the session and keeps tapes and notes on the shelf. Tap Start when you are back.
Shred the Archive (Studio Settings) permanently deletes your library and profile on this device after you type DELETE. Starter Booth returns empty.
Playback sounds wrong
Check Studio Settings for playback speed. Use Stop if a line is still speaking, then Play again. Clear Cached Audio if a line was cut off after an earlier take. Make sure the iPhone silent switch and volume allow playback; Joranelis uses spoken audio routed to the speaker.
