These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Joranelis iOS app. By tapping Start you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Using the studio
Joranelis is a personal study tool for building foreign-language practice tapes, playing lines with on-device speech, recording a shadowing take, and keeping session notes. It is not a school, not a live tutor, and not a community or social network. Starter Booth tapes are included so you can practice immediately. Custom tapes come from scripts you paste or images you scan.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Joranelis on Apple devices you own or control, in line with the App Store terms. You may not copy, reverse engineer, rent, or resell the app, or use it to provide a competing service, except where applicable law forbids that restriction.
3. Your tapes and third-party material
You are responsible for text and images you bring into the booth — pasted scripts, camera shots, photo-library scans, notes, and translations. You must have the rights you need, and you must follow applicable law. Do not use Joranelis to copy lyrics, books, subtitles, or other protected works that you are not allowed to reproduce.
Starter Booth scripts are provided by Joranelis for personal practice only. You do not receive any other license to those lines.
4. Purchases
Joranelis does not sell In-App Purchases, subscriptions, or token packs. Apple is not asked to bill you for studio features. There is no Restore Purchases control.
5. Speech, OCR, and study aids
On-device text-to-speech, Vision text extraction, and transcript matching are automated study aids. They can misread, mistranscribe, or miss a word. Match rates and highlights are hints, not a professional evaluation of pronunciation, fluency, or language ability. Joranelis does not provide medical, educational certification, or diagnostic services.
6. Availability
On-device speech, camera, and optional translation can vary by region, device, system language, network, and Apple service status. We may change features, Starter Booth titles, or the app itself. We do not promise uninterrupted service.
7. Fair use
You agree not to misuse the studio, including by attempting to interfere with the app, overload optional translation, scan content you are not allowed to process, or use Joranelis for anything unlawful. We may refuse support or end access if these Terms are broken.
8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The app is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Automated transcripts and translations may be wrong. You remain responsible for how you use practice results.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Joranelis and its publisher are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or lost-data damages. Mandatory consumer rights in your country are not limited by this section.
9. Clock Out and Shred the Archive
Clock Out leaves tapes and notes on the device; tap Start to return. Shred the Archive permanently deletes your local library and profile on this device and cannot be spliced back. Starter Booth tapes return empty.
10. Governing terms
These Terms are meant to be used together with Apple’s App Store terms and applicable consumer law in the country or region where you use Joranelis. If a court finds a part unenforceable, the rest still applies. Apple’s standard EULA may also apply to licensed application end users.
11. Changes
Updated terms will be posted here and presented in the app with their effective date. Continued use after that date is governed by the updated Terms.
